fwiw, I couldn't resist commenting b/c Bigfoot is a popular figure here in northeast Georgia and western NC. Almost everyone has a story (usually second- or third-person). Lots of metal yard signs in rural areas (see examples by typing "Bigfoot" "silhouette" and "sign" in a search engine), plus a museum in Blue Ridge with an active gift shop.
I love this kind of folklore - particularly in a big country like the US with so much 'wilderness'. Ofc England has plenty of folklore but it's not as easy for creatures to hide >.>
